The producer

Marie-Claire and Pierre Fort created Domaine de Mouscaillo in 2004 after returning to their native Roquetaillade. They began with four hectares of Chardonnay on this cool, limestone-framed terroir at the foot of the Pyrenees. Their experience elsewhere in France — including years in the Loire — helped shape an unusually precise, restrained style for the Languedoc.\n\nToday the domaine is run by Camille and Thomas, working with Frédéric. The estate follows an agroecological approach and seeks to preserve the character of its high-altitude vineyards through biodiversity, permanent or semi-permanent grassing, hedges, no chemical herbicides, reduced inputs and careful soil management. In the cellar the philosophy is deliberately low-intervention: the wines should reflect what the vineyard gives them, without artifice.
