Le vigneron

Domaine Girard is a family estate at Alaigne, within the Malepère landscape west of Limoux. The family’s winegrowing history dates to 1928, and Philippe Girard now guides a vineyard of around 30 hectares. Its position matters: Malepère sits where Mediterranean and Atlantic influences meet, giving the estate a natural reason to work with both southern varieties and grapes more readily associated with the west. The current boutique range is correspondingly broad. Malepère Tradition and Cuvée Neri express the local appellation, while Garriguette joins Syrah and Grenache. Pinot Noir appears in two interpretations, including Pech Calvel, and the white range spans Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc. A Crémant de Limoux completes the cellar. Rather than forcing one house style across every bottle, Domaine Girard’s range records the varied exposures, varieties and appellations available around Alaigne.
